CONDITIONS OF USE BIODEGRADABLE FILM
1. SOIL PREPARATION
The soil must be clean, free of large rocks or any sharp objects, and loosely compacted to prevent the risk of tears.
The film must not be installed immediately following the application of organic fertilizers, as this accelerates biodegradation as the result of the microbial activity associated with the fertilizer.
2. LAYING MULCH FILM
Traditional machines may be used to lay mulch film, but it is necessary to reduce both the tension of the film and the speed of the machine.
The mulch film must be properly fastened to prevent it from being carried away by the wind.
Planting should occur immediately after laying the mulch film.
3. PERFORATING THE FILM
Improvised means of perforation should not be used, as they may tear the film and shorten the service life of the plastic.
The film should be perforated by the manufacturer or in the field, using heated dies.
4. IRRIGATION SYSTEMS
Direct contact between the plastic and the water should be avoided, since it can accelerate the degradation of the plastic.
5. SERVICE LIFE OF THE MULCH FILM
The degradation of biodegradable mulch film depends on climate conditions, temperature, humidity and the microbiological activity of the soil. The correct handling and installation of the film (or lack thereof) also has an influence.
It is recommended to conduct specific crop tests in the area where you intend to use this type of material before generalizing its use, to make sure that it meets expectations.
6. PRODUCT CONSERVATION
Reels of plastic must be kept in their original packaging and stored vertically, protected from light, heat and moisture, or any other factor that might alter the mechanical properties of the film or that might accelerate the process of degradation.
Biodegradable film must not be stored from one season to another, as its properties will deteriorate.
7. GUARANTEE
Due to the many different external factors that can influence its performance, and which are beyond the manufacturer’s control (soil and weather conditions, humidity, etc.) SOLPLAST, S.A. cannot guarantee that said performance will exactly meet the customer’s expectations.
In the case of premature degradation, the responsibility of SOLPLAST, S.A. is limited solely and exclusively to the replacement of the affected plastic, and does not include any other type of compensation.
Follow the recommendations listed above to help optimize the performance of the film.
