MAPLA

MAPLA, Medio Ambiente, Agricultura y Plásticos (Environment, Agriculture and Plastics) is a non-profit association created by agricultural plastic manufacturers to organise a system to collect and recycle agricultural plastics.

Solplast’s main goal, as a founding partner of Mapla, is to provide the agricultural sector in Spain with the means required to properly manage plastic waste, helping our clients, farmers and livestock breeders to meet the obligations established by current legislation.

RECICHADO Project

Recycling and reprocessing plastic from agricultural mulch.

SOLPLAST, in collaboration with GREEN WORLD COMPOUNDING, is implementing a project called “RECYCLING AND REPROCESSING PLASTIC FROM AGRICULTURAL MULCH: RECICHADO”. The goal is to find a feasible process to recycle plastic waste from mulch and adapt these recycled plastics to the manufacture of different products for use in agriculture, in alignment with the circular economy principles.

This project is funded by the Instituto de Fomento de la Región de Murcia (INFO) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Its purpose is to promote corporate R&D within the framework of the RIS3MUR Strategy.

AGRO2CIRCULAR project

REGIONAL CIRCULAR SYSTEMIC SOLUTION FOR RECYCLING WASTE FROM THE AGRIFOOD SECTOR.

SOLPLAST participates in a European project included within the H2020 plan, the aim of which is to reuse different types of waste from the agrifood sector (fruit and vegetables and multi-layer plastic films) to upcycle them into high added value products. This is approached from different angles:

1) Use and upcycling of fruit and vegetable waste as a source of natural bioactives to obtain biodegradable, nutraceutical and/or cosmetic products.

2) Classification, recycling and economically and environmentally sustainable upcycling of laminated multi-layer plastic films with various materials and barrier features.

3) Creation of a data integration system as a tool to guarantee traceability and enable digitalisation in the agrifood sector to be able to use the waste products from the industry.

AGRO2CIRCULAR will be a proven systemic solution in the Region of Murcia (Spain), and replicable in all of Europe, for the regional deployment of a circular economy.

Replacing direct current DC motors with alternate current AC motors with variable frequency drive.

SOLPLAST is involved in the energy savings and efficiency project “Replacing DC motors with AC motors with variable frequency drive”, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), coordinated by IDAE and managed by each autonomous community. The project is covered by the National Fund for Energy Efficiency and aims to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable economy.

This initiative is being implemented to improve electricity use and energy efficiency by replacing several DC motors with AC motors with frequency drive.

We have achieved significant energy and environmental savings during the process, saving over 28 equivalent tonnes of oil per year.
